50 Posts Prove Our Words are Important
What we say and what we write makes a difference.
Our words change us and the people around us. While it sounds like a shift in blogging is in the air, the one thing that will never change is the importance of spreading ideas.
When I asked you to send me the most important post you’ve written, and/or read this year, you delivered.
The following posts were not voted on. They weren’t given an award and they were not on the front page of anything, but a blog. They were however important, and often life changing to someone else. (and what is more important than that?)
There are posts about love and family. Some are about business, travel or learning a new skill. While not every post will apply to you or your lifestyle, each is important to someone.

Some things we write are just for fun, but usually there is a message or lesson. A message of hope or inspiration, or a lesson in business or life.
Maybe blogging will change, as everything does, but hopefully we can preserve the best parts of blogging and free content. You don’t need a perfect design, all the right widgets, advertisers or thousands of readers to write something important. If your writing is meaningful to just one person, it is important. Even if that person is you.
What important work have you created lately? What important work has changed your mind, your business or your life?

Wonderful! I’ll have to put some time aside to read each & every one of them. Thanks!
I skimmed a few quickly…can’t wait to get on my laptop this evening & read them all! Thank you for doing this.
This is a great idea for a post. It’s amazing how many great blogs out there that I never even knew existed!
Thank you for including me in the list =)
Thanks so much for including me and compiling this awesome list. Can’t wait to read through them all!! Kristen
Great idea! Looking forward to reading with a glass of wine this evening
Hey Courtney – I’m continually amazed at how 26 letters can be arranged into a mosaic of words that have the potential to deeply impact someone’s life. Thanks for sharing this list, and thanks for allowing me to be in such good company.
This is great Courtney! What a wonderful list – and a nice reminder that even when we are writing for catharsis, our words matter a great deal. I used to worry that the writing on my blog was kind of selfish because it’s a lot of personal anecdotes, but I feel like I learn so much about myself and my intentions through writing that I know now it’s necessary for me – whether or not anyone else reads it.
Yes, I have goals for my blog and my work, but to me, one of the most important things right now for me is discovering my best self so I can be the best mom for my kids.
Tisha,
To be the “best mom for my kids” – now that it important.
Thanks, Courtney, for sharing my post! I hope others enjoy it. I wanted to add that Non-Toxic Tuesday is a series I do (almost) weekly on learning how we can detoxify our lives and our bodies — this particular post is a Mental Detoxification Plan that I developed that I hope will help others, too (it’s certainly helping me, so far!).
I love these list posts! I can’t wait to visit them all!
Bernice
Begin again, each and every day
Courtney,
Should have known you were up to something special! Mahalo for including mine, looking forward to reading what I’m sure will be a great selection. What is interesting is how this list would morph given a few more months of writing; every few weeks I have a new favorite post of yours and Tammy’s for instance. We grow as people in part from reading and being impacted by such quality material. Thanks for consistently contributing to that growth!
Thank you! I am honored to be included on your list and I look forward to reading the others.
Thanks for curating this list–it will provide a lot of good reading material (and thanks for including me!).
What a great list! I’m looking forward to reading through the posts. Thanks for sharing it!
I’m going to have reading material for the next week or so now! Read a couple already and they are just awesome. Thank you for posting this list.
Courtney you are an angel-a true example of the power of the living word. Thank you for this gift. Be well
Courtney,
First off, this list just shines to the heart and soul and amazing folks (you and others) out there in this world, making a real difference.
What important work have I created lately? I have taken a pause. (and I’m still actively in that “pause”) And it’s as though I’m being refreshed, renewed, revitalized. And it has me thinking new thoughts…thoughts that were getting buried under the “do, do, do” world I had created.
…and this all feels right and good…
(and thank you so much for asking)
Lance, I can’t wait to hear more about the pause! Sounds necessary and very important.
Great list. It is always fun to explore other sites through the links from your posts.
Thanks, Courtney. I’m honored to have a place on your list and looking forward to reading the (many) other posts on it that I haven’t read already.
You’re right; what people say can make a difference. Other bloggers have inspired me, made me laugh or cry or think more compassionately, taught me something new or simply reminded me that I’m not alone.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Naomi – Me too! In fact, it is other bloggers that inspired me to blog in the first place.
I have loved going through these blogs. Thanks for this list! It has been refreshing to read so many interesting things.
Thanks for the mention (#41).
What an interesting approach!!
Blessings,
