You are Super Cool
How many times a day do you remind yourself that you aren’t good enough? Maybe you don’t actually say the words, but your actions speak volumes. If you’ve abandoned a project, spent too much time doing things that don’t matter, declined when you wanted to accept, or just had a bad day (or month or year), I want to remind you that you are super cool.
(this video is only 30 seconds and will make you smile. If you can’t see it in email, click here)
Super cool is a super power that we all possess, even when we can’t see or feel it. Even when we can’t recognize it or say it out loud, we are super cool. Why don’t we say it out loud? Why don’t we wear t-shirts that read “I am super cool and so are you”?
We don’t do that for 2 reasons
- We don’t believe it.
- We don’t want other people to think we believe it.
This video (may not be suitable for young or sensitive ears) made me think about all the times we support someone we love. We encourage them, we celebrate with them and we make them feel better when they fail. Why don’t we extend that same generosity to ourselves. I want to remind you that you are talented and funny and sexy and amazing. You really are super cool.
You are super cool because you …
- know that if you are having a bad day, tomorrow will be better
- started an indie book store to support authors like me, and you asked Lauren Conrad on a date
- know that 30 isn’t the new 20, 40 isn’t the new 30 and 50 isn’t the new 40 and you are grateful
- you support crazy talk
- fit into your skinny jeans
- make cookbooks beautiful
- don’t fit into your skinny jeans, gave them away and bought jeans that fit you.
- are a wonderful business partner, amazing friend, beautiful writer and caring daughter.
- know when to follow the rules and when to make your own
- run on plants
- say no
- do serious things without taking yourself too seriously
- take the SAT every year to help kids raise their SAT score.
- you support artists
- are listening
- know that admitting weakness is a sign of strength
- make time to do one thing, not everything
- let rainbows, thunderstorms and blooming flowers amaze you every time
- are a rebel mama
- dance
- have a goodblog
- understand that to be confident, you have to be vulnerable
- included a picture of you on your home page that makes readers smile
- are starting to recognize what matters
- you are debt free or are becoming debt free
- you are an artist
- you are clutterfree or becoming clutterfree
You know those little quirks and unique traits you have? They make you – you and what’s not super cool about that? And, the way you treat people, the way you treat animals, the way you treat the planet… that’s nothing short of super cool.
Reminding yourself that you are super cool is not boastful or indulgent, it is super powerful. So go on, say it. “I am super cool!”. Then call someone you love or send them this post and tell them, “You are super cool!”
When people start to fully grasp how super cool they are, super cool things start to happen, so let’s spread the word.

I am super cool because I traded Monday morning sales meetings for walking my dog by the pond.
My husband Mark is super cool because he is skipping his bike race tonight to take me for a hike before he leaves for a business trip.
Hi Courtney,
I am super cool because I have 2 super cool daughters, 2 super cool sons-in-law, 3 super cool grandchildren and one amazingly super cool husband of 44 years who shared by dream of moving to Italy.
Love this post! The video was great. I wrote on this a few months ago talking about how just being who you are and living it makes you cool. Back when we were young we worried about if others thought we were cool. Now I am more concerned if I think I am cool, if I am really living the life and the dreams that I most value. I am super cool
Going for a walk with the hubby and the dog is super cool too
Thanks Lorilee. You are supercool!
Great post. Thanks for sharing this and the video.
Courtney you are super cool and so am I. Great video. I ran to hug my puppy who has been driving me crazy lately right after watching it. We are both smiling ear to ear.
Puppy love is super cool. xo
You are super cool!!! I am super cool! We are super cool!!!
I loved this post and I feel super cool today because I got to spend most of today writing and drafting blog posts, including one I posted today. It’s all so new and exciting to me that if any of you are interested in supporting a new blog, please stop by.
I’ve been following this blog and a few others for awhile, but now I feel confident enough to share my blog too – that’s cool too I think,x
Other quirky things I feel super cool about … I loved the two phone calls I got today

This has been one of those days when I haven’t felt very cool at all. Thank you for reminding me that I am super cool, even when I don’t feel well enough to get my to do list done, and when I don’t feel like being social.
Janie, You are super cool even if you don’t get one more thing done this week!
You are super cool and I am super cool!! thanks this post remind me that and make me feel better..!!!!
Saludos desde Colombia!!! Gracias por este post!! aqui se dice “Tu eres super genial y yo soy super genial
!!
Gracias Carolina!
WOW! I needed this yesterday. I feel much better largely because I went to boot camp where we told eachother that we were awesome. It did make me feel good and I needed it. So, great post! Thank you.
i would totally wear a shirt that says im super cool and so are you!
Love this post. I’m supercool because I’m trying to do what I love for a living (drawing). My hubby is supercool because he works so hard and got a 2-book deal!!
Ya’ll are supercool because you’re brave enough to share your coolness, among many other reasons. Let’s all keep it up!
-Sarah
Of course I am, so do you.
Glad you enjoyed the pic ;D A little goofiness is good for oneself and the world! You are so cool, girl.
I am super cool because after all these years I’ve finally come to terms with my hair. And because I could explain the basics of an internal combustion engine to my son when it was part of his science homework yesterday. LOL! I don’t think I’ve ever thought of myself as super cool before. “Other people” (like the “popular kids”) were/are cool, but not me.
And you all are super cool too! Be the best you that you can be, the you that you were meant to be! No one else can do that.
I am super cool because I love to dance (sometimes not well) to just about anything, and I never care who is watching.
My husband is super cool because he always puts up with my quirkyness with a smile.
This was a great post Courtney!
This post made my day, because it as linked to me at just the right time. This weekend, I briefly forgot how super cool I was this weekend and then my friends and husband (who happens to be my best friend) reminded me. Thank you!
I’ve read this post twice now over the past couple weeks, & watched the youtube vid several more times… I don’t know if I’m super cool or not, but you sure make me feel like I am! Thank you for that. I’m keeping this where I can find it easily any time I need a reminder that there are kind, loving, & generous people in this world… & that I am one of them… & that we are a very super cool group of human beings. It’s good to be in such remarkable company.
Cute video!
I’m feeling super cool because today I threw away something that should have gone 15 years ago! Cute video!
