How many times have you heard, “Don’t sweat the small stuff?” How often do you stay awake thinking about small stuff, the little details of your day that you wished you had managed differently? Let’s face it, the small stuff, when ignored, becomes big stuff. I know we aren’t supposed to stress and worry about every little thing, but imagine if we just handled it, instead of letting it grow.
Sweat (handle) the small stuff.
When I attempt to handle something small, or big, I generally ask the following questions.
- What do I need to do about it?
- Do I need help or should I give this to someone else?
- How will my action affect my life in five minutes? five days? five years?
You can usually tell how important the issue really is based on the last question.
Address it, take care of it and move on.
