My friends Shannon and Kristin from Revolution Apparel are closing shop. You’ll remember them from this article, or you may already be familiar with their work.
Two years ago, they set out to create a fashionable, minimalist clothing line for female travelers.
On the way they …
- Faced their fears traveling developing countries in search of sustainable materials.
- Learned that the developing world is bearing the brunt of our consumption; environmentally, economically and personally.
- And then they did something about it.
They started a revolution.
Many of us face our fears, learn something heartbreaking and then stop and fade back into our lives.
Shannon and Kristen took action and inspired me to inspire you to take action too.
Project 333 is all about dressing with less and that in itself is taking action and softening our consumption footprint. That’s amazing and awesome, but I think we can do more. I think we can do better.
Stick with Project 333 in 2013 for new challenges that ask you to first dress with less, and then to think about what you are wearing and why. We will talk about the true cost of your decisions (and it’s not on the price tag) and what changes you can make to demonstrate your commitment to a better world by how you live and dress in it.
And now for a proper goodbye …
Shannon and Kristen and I have had a few goodbyes. We said goodbye in Salt Lake City by their van Zooey after coffee. We said goodbye in Portland after a moving interview, that still affects my fashion choices today.
Now I’ll say goodbye to Revolution Apparel as it is today, but never to Shannon and Kristin because I know they will continue to do inspiring, enlightening, kind things and I want to be part of it.
Ladies … when you need me, just call.
