Weekend Wisdom: It’s time for practice, not perfection.
Wilbur understands that quarantining is just another opportunity to nap.
For many months of the first year that I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I gave myself intramuscular injections once a week. The needles were long, my muscles were twitchy and the medicine made me feel worse than MS. For the first month, I dreaded every injection. I’d cry and shake and tense up which made it all worse. Then another woman with MS told me how she was grateful for the pain of the injection.
At first I rolled my eyes a little. I wasn’t ready for that level of sunshine and rainbows. And then she told me that during her last relapse, she couldn’t feel her legs at all. So now, when she felt the pain of her injection, she felt grateful that she could feel her legs.
That may be why I’m so grateful right now that I get to stay home and be safe. And I will feel like that for as long as it takes. Right now, I’m healthy and I have what I need. I can feel my legs.
