Weekend Wisdom: Don’t let the things you want distract you from the things you have.
I’m making something new.
I’m in this sort of joyful, kind of terrifying stage of making something new. The stage where you know what you want it to be but you don’t know what you are doing. It’s the stage where the edges of the puzzle pieces have come together but you can’t see what the middle of the puzzle looks like, and all of the pieces are the same color.
The best part of it is that even though I don’t have it all figured out, I’m doing it anyway. It’s how I do everything. If I wait until I know where every piece goes, I spend more time overthinking than creating and engaging. Once I get started, the pieces always come together and they rarely look like I thought they would.
If you are considering something new and feeling held back because you don’t know how things will turn out, remind yourself that not knowing how things will turn out is the only way anything comes out at all. And then take a step forward.
