I got some extra vitamin sea this week.
One of my priorities for 2019 was to go away by myself a few times … not visiting anyone, or taking anyone with me. I just returned from my last 2019 getaway. It was a trip to one of my favorite spots, but with a new podcast, book and book tour announcement around the corner (days away), this was a working trip. There were lots of moving pieces falling into place but also waves and sunsets and seals (plus one whale) and my favorite tacos.
Even though I’m all about self-care, considering solo trips felt decadent and indulgent. I silently wondered if this was too much self-care. But then I did it anyway and don’t regret a moment of my travels. So often we apologize or make excuses for the way we take care of ourselves. From saying no to going to bed early, not drinking or taking solo trips … let’s stop apologizing for giving ourselves what we need to feel well, be present, get creative and love our people.
