Weekend Wisdom: You can be a good person and still say “no thanks.”

It’s been 20 years since my multiple sclerosis diagnosis and the beginning of my simplicity journey. It started slow and I didn’t call it simplicity or minimalism. I called it “removing stress” and I am still doing it today. When I was initially diagnosed, I never thought that 20 years later, I’d be playing tennis, going to the gym and getting physically stronger every day. I still have ups and downs in life (like all humans) not related to MS, but what I’ve learned over the last 20 years has helped me navigate those ups and downs.
My therapist recently told me that the better you treat your body, the less tolerant you are of mistreatment from others. I love that perspective! I’m so grateful for everything that came from my diagnosis including an amazing medical team, an entirely new career and the prioritization of a healthy body, clear mind and a regulated nervous system.
