Weekend Wisdom: I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you can return that.
I’m ok with missing out on most of it.
There are so many books I want to read, hours of podcasts I’d like to listen to and other things I want to enjoy. There are also a bunch on amazing things I want to create, food I want to try, people I want to work with, new things to learn and places I want to visit.
So. Many. Things.
That saying, I haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list resonates with me and still I often visit my favorite places when I travel, places I’ve already been. I used to keep lists of “all the things” thinking I will get to them sometime. I’ve never even come close.
Now that I recognize there will always be more, I have to be selective. I have to say no a lot AND saying no means saying no to the good stuff too. The only way I can accept this is by being ok with missing out on most of it.
I’m sure I miss out on some things by not having email on my phone, by not going on Twitter anymore and by spending less time on social media.
Missing out on most things means I can be more present and engaged in the things that matter to me, the things that make me smile, the things that really light me up. That’s enough for me. I am really happy and grateful to experience life that way.
