Weekend Wisdom: Don’t look for proof outside of yourself that you are worth being loved. It’s not out there. It’s in you.
Food stuff is complicated.
In a recent article, I wrote that I don’t support everything I’ve ever written and some people wanted to know, “like what?”
Probably the one thing I’ve changed my views on the most is food and weight. In the early days of Be More With Less, I wrote about things like “healthy weight” and other diet related gems. Thanks diet culture! As of today it’s been more than three years since I’ve weighed myself or measured myself by the number on a scale. For me, that number is not an important measurement in terms of health. And (back then) when I said it was, what I meant by health was skinny or small.
The way I weighed myself and treated myself based on the number wasn’t healthy at all.
Now, when I am weighed at a doctor’s visit for instance, I ask them to keep that number to themselves and they do. And, since my weight doesn’t tell me what I “should eat” anymore, I eat what I want. Now, I exercise to feel good. I don’t exercise to offset what I eat or to lose weight. I just won’t do it anymore.
I understand what works for me may not work for you but if the idea of dumping all diet rules appeals to you, I wrote more about it here and she helped me see the light.
