Weekend Wisdom: The best things are never things.
Taking it all in.
There are so many times over the last ten months when I wish I could fast forward the whole world into a safer, calmer, more equitable place.
And when I gently remind myself that we have to get through hard things to learn and get to better times, I exhale and take it all in. I look at the mountains and the sunsets and moon-rises. I notice the steam coming off my tea and how the warm cup feels nestled in my hands. I let the laughter move through my entire body on an early morning call with my daughter.
I take those moments in as deeply as I can and hold them so they can hold me right back when things seem unbearable.
If you are holding your breath, clenching your jaw, and wishing the fear and pain away, give yourself permission to take in the good stuff. Let it lift you, ground you and hold you when you need it most.
